else的用法

else的基本含义是“别的”、“其它的”、“另外的”、“否则”等,它只能用于某些结构中。

一、else可以用在所有由 any-,every-,some-,no-开头及由-body,-one,-thing,-where结尾的不定代词的后面(而不能按照汉语习惯放在这些词的前面)。

① Anything else I can do for you?(我还能为你做别的事吗?)

② Ask somebody else to help you.(去请别人帮助你.)

③ Nothing else,thank you.(没有别的事了.谢谢你.)

④ We went nowhere else,(我们没有去别的地方.)

二else用作形容词时常常用来作后置定语，即：放在疑问代词who，what，which，when, where, how等后面，

Who else can you see？你还能看见别的什么人？ Who else is coming? 别的什么人要来了？

What else do you want？你还想要别的什么？What else did she tell you? 她还告诉你别的什么了？

Nothing else．别的什么也不要了。

Where else do you want to go？你想去别的什么地方吗？

When else can I meet you？我其它什么时间可以与你见面？

三else 还常用于固定结构or else ,意为“否则”、“要不然”。eg:

Run ,or else we’ll be late . 快跑，不然我们就迟到了。
